Hello, i have a big problem with one of my sites so i hope someone can give out some tips.

I have a blog that's entertainment related and it get's really good serp results and traffic.

Then i wanted to make a site for a product to promote. so i made a directory sitename.com/product/ and made a static site there. After adding some content, i linked to it from the main domain/blog, and when the page was indexed, it got a really good serp result for a VERY competetive keyword (it was around 70th place), then i added more content for those a bit lower traffic keywords with less competition. I hit page 2 with couple of them.

In about a week i got about 140 uniques per day and made couple of sales. I thought i was doing everything ok and added more content (all content was unique). Then in 4 days, traffic got to 40 per day, i still added a article or 2 per day. after 3-4 days, my traffic was down to about 5.

So i checked the same keywords i did well before and found out, that for the most competetive one, i fell down about 350 places, and those where i was at the second page fell to about 200+.

Now i really don't know what went wrong? Any tips? I was thinking about couple of things...

    1. relevancy - The niche of this product is way different then my blog. And since i linked from my blog, could that be the issue?
    2. i need to get more relevant links to that sitename.com/product/ page?

I also noticed the traffic from my blog has fallen to about 30%. But i think the reason was that i have quite some posts for christmas and a popular album release etc. So since now there aren't many of those searches, that must be the reason for lower traffic. But i really dunno what went wrong with that product page.

    Thanks guys!

Did this happen recently (like few days time)? If so, then you are not alone. Other people are reporting the samething. Keywords that used to rank high is now nowhere to be found. My suggestion, try to wait for a week or so. Google is doing something and we can only see the true result after everything settle down.

Whatever the cause is, you really do need on topic links to your new sub-site to expect to keep ranking.
