    Hi Friends,

First of all I would like to declare that I am NO Expert about SEO or Google. I am just sharing some useful info.

    Google Patent
Google has recently filed a patent that details many points that Google uses to rank web pages. You may like to view it here - CLICK HERE

How Your Web Page Changes Influence Your Rankings On Google
While web page content is crucial, the ranking of web pages is influenced by the frequency of page or site updates. Google says that stale results might be desirable for information that doesn't need updating while fresh content is good for results that require it.

'Stability' Of Domain Has Impact On Your Rankings Too
According to Google, valuable domains are often paid for several years in advance while doorway or throwaway domains are rarely used for more than a year.

In short, the length of the domain registration (one year <-> several years) plays an important part in ranking. It is good to note that the address of the web site owner, stability of data and host company and the number of pages on a web site (web sites must have more than one page) may also have an impact.

Quality & Quantity Link Building Is Critical
As you know, Google heavily relies on links when it comes to specify the ranking of a web site. In addition to the sheer number of links and their anchor texts, the patent specification shows possible ways how Google might use historical information to further specify the value of links.

When it comes to linking, you shouldn't go for one-shot quick solutions. Link building must be consistent and quality links means not only good page rank but also mature links - links that remain linking to your site over time

    Google Web Trend
The patent specification indicates that Google might track how often users click on a page when it is listed in the search results pages. Google might also track the amount of time that users spend "accessing the document".

Create good content that makes visitors stay in your site longer. Anchor text link is also important. If you have the knowledge and tools, you may try this method - Google Web Trend Manipulation.

    Important Note
This thread is meant ONLY for constructive sharing.

    Best Regards

well, you covered almost all points,
But, I'd like to say, you need to have a dedicated server, if not, a dedicated IP, to avoid penalties imposed due to bad neighborhood.

"Google has recently filed a patent that details many points that Google uses to rank web pages." It will be interesting to see what the courts allow them to have.

The SEO points mentioned are definitely what Google is moving more and more towards when ranking websites. Nice to see some more advanced SEO issues being discussed.

from our testing, no, cant see any difference at all between a domain registered a year at a time and ones registered for more.

maybe further down the line it becomes more important but not at new domain stage.

Thanks for the info, but i disagree with you in one single point (Domain Registration Period) it will not affect your website ranking.. but in most cases trusted (old-authority) domains might rank higher based on their backlinks scheme ;)

Yes that is what I meant. The length on domain registration directly indicates how long a site has been online. This will influence the ranking of a site :)
