Your niche is probably just too competitive.

Google not counting forum & blog backlinks? What... why wouldn't they?

And of course you have a theory of how their robots can find out what is a blog and what is a "natural" website?

So are you saying that the links that were counting for you a few months ago, that you got from blog comments and forum posts, no longer count?

If this is what you are saying, this just happens some times. Especially if you are getting links from RandomSpammyBlog.com and other similar places. The three methods of link building that you mentioned are not what I would consider 'strong' methods.

As a blog post gets buried, because of the addition of new posts, it is going to lose value. Unless it happens to be a very popular post that generates links on its own. The same thing can happen to forum posts. As for web directories, which ones are you talking about? It isn't going to count for much to get a free link on a bloated web directory that hasn't even been fully spidered.

Do you conduct real backlink checks of your website to see exactly where your links come from? Does your backlink profile from a few months ago significantly differ from today? If you don't currently create backlink profiles you should start. If you already do this and have two backlink profiles to compare and a lot of prior links are no longer found, I'd look at the websites in question. What happened to them? Are they still around? Is there just a parked page up in their place now?

There really aren't a lot of mysteries left in the world today, at least not as far as the Internet is concerned. If your link juice evaporated there is a definite reason that can be pinpointed.

Actually few month ago i have started a blog related to SEO and it gets pr 3 in one month.. my backlink was coming from johnchow blog (as top commenter) now in the start of 2010 i make a website related to MMA fghting, it was going good but when i start making backlinks from john chow blog, they penalized me

let me know where i am wrong?

same thing happened once again, i build a new post in my blog and build backlinks from digitalpoint (2nd link in my post) it was going first day very well i ranked at the top but after one day passed google penalized my this website as well

The two sites in your signature do not appear to be penalized. Ranking well (or not ranking well) and being penalized are two different things. The cache date of the Rugs page is 15 Feb 2010 08:14:22 GMT so it is being crawled by Google for sure.

If what you are doing is not working it must be dead?

There is nothing as constant as change... so the saying goes.

Google is improving (in their eyes at least) the way search results are served based on user behaviors and not the same old same old that people seem to think is all they have to do... linking, commenting, etc.

The links must be dofollow. Most blog comments these days are not so that may be the cause.

Yeah, Google is constantly updating their algorithm and I think they're still slowly rolling out Caffeine.

Keep in mind it may not be what you are doing wrong but what your competition is doing right.
