I just thought id share this experience as I appear to have been spammed from within google, I went over to googles seo centre to try and get some advice as to why my site isn’t in the top 1000 for my search term and I submitted a request and below is the response that I got. Is this normal? I thought that I might have received a few pointers, not a blatant sales pitch? Mike on a side note, does anyone here know why im doing so awfully?
what do you mesan? i know its not google, but it was a reply in the google message box? ie a direct responce to my question to google, therefor these people must have had access to my question? sorry my site is www.sharpsbooks.co.uk (didnt want to spam myself )
Hi there Some thoughts: your title tag doesn't change, page to page, and nor do the meta tags Poodle Predictor for sharpsbooks.co.uk gives warnings about the lack of h1, h2 or h3 Headings. Your page heading - circled in the attached image - has the following code <td class="pageHeading"> Religion & Philosophy Books </td> Code (markup): Whatever else you do, this should have the H1 tag. According to Google you have 67 inbound links but most of those are internal links: http://www.google.com/search?q=link:http://www.sharpsbooks.co.uk/ You need to find some way of generating discussion about the books on your site, the categories - or through plain old link exchanges. I see you use the COOP or something like it, so that should help. But also find forums where people who love books hang out. Prepare to answer questions. Use Google Alerts to find other relevant sites to visit. Be subtley shameless about using signature links and blog links to promote your site. You should have an onsite blog which you update weekly with something - anything about what's been going on. Some exciting find you've had, interesting book discussion. Something relevant to build the number of pages, give more fresh content etc. Sarah --guess I should have read your other site reviews first, huh? sorry if I'm repeating the advice of others.
no sarah that is great thank you so much. Its such a massive task, the whole seo game and to be honest it can seem overwhelming to say the least!! advice from people like on this site is a great way for noobs to be broken in slowly! i really appreciate your comments and the time spent by anyone assisting thanks Mike
Only if it was google you went into in the first place Please give the address you used and we will try it out too - if we get the same response then there is a need to tell Google. With respect to your site and Serps - you are using oscommerce which aint great with the SEs A better route is to design the site in php with the shop as part of the overall rather than being the site. That way you can "hide" some directories and other gizmos in behind to support the site as well as have nice "Google friendly pages" to greet the search engines.
ah, my bad.... and my apologies "GoogleRankings.com and Seo.GoogleRankings.com is in no way affiliated, sponsored or in any way the property of or responsibility of Google.com" my own fault
Hi Billy! I know this message was posted a while ago but I just recently came across it. SEO Googlerankings as you have surmised is a place for website owners to post requests for SEO companies to evaluate. That's what I was doing. If you still need help with your website maybe I can help. SIncerely Yours, Daniel Riber Sales Director Technovate Inc.
The DP forum is a one stop to like minded individuals in all area's. If you can't find something, chances are someone here will know about it and how to do it. Sometimes it requiers a little searching and posting. But the answers are all here. Brad
