I'm seeing it on many of my domains - and I know it's not a 302 redirect causing it.
Can't say it worries me atm.
One new site (bought as an expired domain) has retained it's PR7 (don't know why) and Google is busy indexing it like there's no tomorrow. So far today G has sent about 40 users to this new site. I sure ain't going to complain about that - the site is only 10 days old (or at least my version is). I've now got to go and see what it's ranking for - Knowing my luck it'll be ranking for some competitive phrases just to confuse me even more.

Added: Google has sent me 14 visitors for a phrase I can't find the site ranking anywhere in the top 200. Using mcdar I'm seeing it at either 200 or 300. That strikes me as a lot of referrals for such a low rank - and it's a very specific phrase (commercial name + model number) through which they're finding me.

Apropos'... I got about 5 Red's from really big members (taking 10 points from me each). THis can only upset me. This is a nice forum. I don;t care about those, but the rest, who really deserve this disscusions. I'll stay for that.

    Now to be on-topic.

I am still nowhere in Google, except a single word, out of the min. 40 words or phrases for which i was top5 or 1, with results from 40 mil. to 300 mil.

My opinion after all these days, and after discussions with several other people, who know their way:

    1. Co-Op is the fault to this. I have reports from all my friends that are in, and are nowhere now. I am sure 80% of this.

    2. Google has either "built" a new filter, or upgraded the old one (we all know google had a filter, and a relevant penalization, for instable links) to a much larger power.

I am sorry if i cause any problems for anyone here, by saing my opinion. It's just my opinion.

If anyone gives me any red anymore, i'll throw like buckets of paint on your door. Trust me. I know where you live

    Cristian,

I was concerned about the same thing - co-op causing probs with Google - BUT I went to my co-op account to view the stats on my ads and found that the impressions had all gone up.

This can ONLY mean that the sites they are on are getting traffic. IF all co-op related sites were targeted/filtered by Google, wouldn't you think that traffic would have dropped like a rock?

The site that I have that was hit the hardest is NOT even involved with the co-op so I don't think it is a co-op problem.

    IMHO

That's an interesting metric. I hadn't thought of that. Very smart!

Caryl ... From all the website's that were in .. I got the same negative report.

All other websites, that were not in, haven't been affected at all.

If this penal is not 100% related to the Co-Op, it's surely at least 50% related. Together with other problems in the user's site : 302's, 404 pages, recip links etc.

I just can't move my opinion, after so much digging and discussions on this subject.

Maybe if we all put our heads and facts together here, we can have a brainstorming. We are smart people.

PS : Just as i thought : "First Rule of Rep Club- Do Not Talk About Rep Club" RED. Al of these affect my mind. Peace people. I will not leave anyway. :)

I think we need to have another confab with bob about this...

Sorry Cristian, but lots of people use the co-op network, and some sites in co-op have problems and some don't. The evidence is clearly inconclusive and is not indicitive of anything.

There are also lots of sites not in the co-op that have problems as well.

Perhaps it would be useful to use more exact terminology when discussing participation in the co-op.

When we mention a site which is in the co-op, we should mention whether it was contributing links to the co-op or receiving links from the co-op.

My sites which were contributing links were unaffect by Jagger. My site which was receiving links from the co-op was slaughtered by Jagger.

I should state that I believe this to be a red herring. I do not believe this was the cause of the drop.

I believe that this drop is being caused by a screwup made by someone at Google and that eventually they will repair their mistake. My working theory can be most accurately labeled "database corruption". I do not believe this is a direct and desired result of an algorithmic change.

    To be more exact :

My site was receiving links only.

And indeed... It was slaughtered. :(

I stopped receiving links from the coop months ago and I didn't get slaughtered, but I got hit pretty hard (traffic down 50%). Site that displayed COOP ads vanished in SERPS (but went to PR6 from PR5 - not sure what to make of that one). It did not receive COOP ads

I do not believe it is either...but its really and I mean really hard to sit back and wait for google to fix this "corruption".

Addendum - anyone here using textlinkbrokers "pre-sell" pages? Did you get hit?

I copied my content on the slaughtered site to another domain.

This worked during the last Google screwup.

I am now waiting for those pages to be spidered.

    Nope.

As mentioned, I had a site that displayed meta title + description from months before during the update.

So you trashed the old domain in favor of a new one? Or linked that content back to the original domain? Can you explain that for me? I can do that, not change domain names mind you, but the other part LOL

The content now exists at two sites.

I expect that the site which is already out of the Google SERPS will be hit with a duplicate content penalty.

However, it is already beyond pain.

What type and quantity of backlinks do you have. How rapidly have they been growing?

Oh not many & slow :( In reality, I have about 400, developed over about 8 months. I started with vigour but now it's only when people ask me to swap links or I see a great site. I try to get as many relevant to my subject as possible, which is quite hard. Yahoo shows about 1000 (real backlinks & forums etc) while Google shows 64.

In essence, I probably don't do anywhere near as much work on backlinking as anyone else here, which is why I didn't think it was much of a factor in this recent SERPs crash (my PR is ok, it's my SERPs that have died)

our clients with less back links are being less harder hit as far as I can tell at this time.
