I think Jim best describes it here!!!!
    http://www.jimboykin.com/

When Google goes through changes, people instantly think of "What could I be doing wrong with my current efforts". Then everything that everyone is doing gets called into question.

Here’s some popular theories that pop up every time there’s a shift in rankings.

    Having newspaper links
    Not being in the news
    Buying links
    Not buying links
    Having site-wide links
    Having homepage links
    Having footer links
    Link trading
    3 way linking
    Not having enough content
Having too much content on page
Adding 200 pages in 1 week
Deleted 200 pages in 1 week
Not adding pages in a year
    Updating too often
    Not updating enough
Posting links in forums, guestbooks, blogs
Not having links from those in the community
    Joining a link network
    Not having enough links
    Google doesn’t like me
Google wants us to spend money on Adwords
….I could go on and on and on and on.

read his blog for the rest.....

his blog has great info, im reading it every day

    Another day... another dollar...
    more speculation... continued tribulation...

Would'nt be a bit surprised if when this armegeddon ends...

we'll be a geddon whatsa commin...
the first shall be last... and the last first...
or at least in the top-20...

those that see the most red ink now...
may see the most green links then...

    hang in there cyber-warrior...
it'll all come out in the wash...
    right as google rain...

    keep the faith...
    hold the vision...
    it's not over...
    I'll say till the weekend...

    remember Christmas is coming,
    and google's gotta gift...
if you've been good that is...

    dont hold your breath,
    just standing by...
    enjoy the rest of life...

And the lion shall lie down with the lamb. But in the morning, the lamb will be nowhere to be seen.

And everywhere folks will find that their belongings, things put there by their forefathers only moments before, have gone missing, never to be seen again.

And, lo, the Keeper of the Saw shall appear. And he shall say, "Huh?", as it was foretold in the book of Jobs and Blackhat SEO. And his people shall rejoice, knowing that the Saw shall save them. And there shall be dancing in the streets. And the cabbies and pedestrians on their way to the office shall be verily pissed.

    So it is written.

Well, I dont know about everyone else but a lot of my keyword results have gone back to normal today. As well as this, I have several additional keywords in the top 200 but I'm still seeing a lot of movement.

I just hope once everything settles things end up better rather than worse

I'm all green in the tracker but only around half of my keywords have gone completely back to their old standing.

That progress is encouraging so far though ;)

I saw something similar today. A bunch of KW came back but others were nowhere to be seen. Some of them have dropped out again.

    Just an update

Today sees my page DROPPING back into the abyss :(

I really did not expect to see recovery so soon (but it would have been nice)

Some reported seeing their Allins recover some yesterday, but I recorded no such movement (checked throughout the day)

Here is a look at today's cache report...

On the 66.102.7.x hosts I am still seeing my semi-returned all-ins... I am also seeing pages on a different sandboxed site getting rankings now as well. All though it does not seem to be with any consistency. (ie a page that should probably rank in a set of keywords is not showing up while another in a more competitive area does have ranking)

One of mysites seems to have stabailzed at the moment:
    allinanchor: 3
    allintext: 4
    allintitle: 3
    allinurl: 93
    actual SERPs: 96

I'm still hopeful that it might recover, but I'm not holding my breath.

I believe the sites will recover.

Here is the "Daily Update" since April 7th 2004 for the page I have been following.

If you scroll down to February 2005 (It is a very long report) you will see that on February 3 - things went haywire!

If you keep scrolling, you will see that finally on March 22nd the page dropped back into position and stayed.

NOTHING was ever done to modify the internal or external optimization in any way during that time frame.

    Any changes were solely Google.

Note: On some dates you will find hyperlinks. Those are links to discussions around the forums regarding current "Google Events" that coincided with our results.

One clear thing I have seen with my site is this: if I have the keyword in the page title, I have kept the position, if not I have lost it.

Before all this the site was found for phrases such as "nice drawings" that the site wasn't optimized for at all, but where either found in anchor text or a combination of words on the page, this is no longer true. The current top sites does seem to have the phrase in the title.

Could that fit into mcdars theory that some pre-scoring was lost? Perhaps the site as only in the top because of the pre-scoring but when that was lost sites which seem optimized for the phrase wins?

I will have to go back and carefully check my keywords. I think this is the pattern I have because as soon as I read it it turned on a lightbulb for the patterns I am seeing.

None of my sites have been more than slightly affected and all have optimized titles - interesting suggestion - possibly Google devaluing off-topic anchor text?

Pure speculation of course, but a change I'd like to see Google undertake.

Same here. About 1/2 of my keywords are back to normal positions. Not the ones I want though LOL My very minor search terms (That bring in most of my traffic) are still gone. Its the hugely competitive words that are back - that is so weird.

I think another shakeup is imminent. I just checked the KWT. Lots of my -9999 rankings are actually in the google listings that are live. KWT seems to be a trailing indicator this time; its usually a leading indicator. I am more and more convinced this was a google mess-up than an actual update. I think mcdar is on the money here. Google had a data fart.
