Jim, you're not the only one who is seeing little or no change. No one yet knows what it is that is happening or why only some sites are affected.

Best not to worry until things settle down. As several people have suggested, whatever is going on is very likely a step toward something else anyway, judging by past experience with Google updates.

After the sept 22nd google update
i registered my site for 10yrs
so it good up till 2015, but this same site tanked yesterday..

I cant remember the last time i had so little traffic
in sept before the 22nd i was overaging 3571 unigue visits a day
    down to 1041 or less
now after yesterdays hit im sitting at 842 with 2hrs to go..
    so not 2 bad..

darn MSN i rank so high for keywords that get me zip traffic
but those same keywords on google got my TONS of traffic

Im starting to check all my pages with http://www.copyscape.com/
to make sure im not getting hit with a duplicate penalty

for my site and its keywords im losing out to sites with more BL
and have been around for more yrs 99-2003
my site was registered in jan 2004

    here are a few examples
    lavasoftusa.com own the 1-3 spots
    safer-networking.org 4-5 spots
    download.com 6
    ca.com
    trendmirco.com
    micrsoft.com

they all hog the the top 10 spots ..

like other im down a TON of cash..
hundreds a day.. since the 22nd of sept..

Still no visitation by the googlebots tonight, I will hope something happens while I am trying to sleep and worrying about my pathetic rankings.

If this doesn't get back to normal quickly, my head is going to explode:eek:

    SportsOutlaw,

I feel your pain. I had some first pages as well and I was hoping I was going to rank better but then this happens.

It really sucks to get used to #1 and other top 10 rankings, and about 30 other terms anywhere from #10 to #40. Drop in one day, and the highest ranking you have is 37.

And it has to happen just 2 weeks before I plan on investing a few thousand dollars on my site, and upgrading from $25.00 per month hosting to a dedicated server.

I'm monitoring a few of my sites logs right now. One of my bigger sites that dropped for some critical keywords/positions has googlebot all over it right now. Kinda sad I'm reduced to watching *log* porn. Another that dropped off had visits on all pages, including two new ones I added Sunday. Small site, but well established and ranked exceptionally well for it's primary keywords.

Not sure it really means anything, but thought I'd at least post I'm in the same boat and feel your pain, but gbots are making their rounds on my sites.

I feel ya there. My main site is currently the only source of revenue that brings in good money. I have been working very hard on a new CMS product that I hope will replace my site one of these days although I have currently 1 other partner who is using a CMS I built for them. I hope my partners deployment can get me through until either Google acts right or my own solution is live.

Just past 8pm here in Hawaii. My traffic is about 60% of normal. Very disappointing after making steady upstrides in all KW rankings during the past few months. Seeing sites for some of my Hawaiiana keywords ranking commercial non Hawaiian pages above local Hawaiian sites. Hopefully Walmart has'nt bought Google... Wait a second... is that a Chinese site I just saw in the #1 spot for Hawaiian Music..?

    Naw.....
    Tomorrows another day,
    pray for rank...
    enjoy your non-googled life...

60% on my affected site would be dreamy. I'm at 25%.

Google, why hast thou forsaken me?

I'm at 30% of normal software downloads for the day, if this sticks that'll be $5k per month down the crapper.

My adsense hasn't been so badly affected because only half of that ranked in Google anyway. That looks like it'll be down to 60% of pre google alorithm update levels. I hesitate to call it an update. Let's call it a 'introduction of new and untold bugs and badly tweaked filters'.

They are not bugs. They are features.

...except the ones with 8 legs... those are definitely bugs...

Hey I'm a programmer. I know an 'undocumented feature' (ie bug) when I see it.

Using McDar, I have noticed some changes to keyword rankings as of 12:15 am pst.

I haven't checked very many, but some keywords which I have ranked #1 - #5 for the last 2 years (a couple of times I have been dropped completely for a week or less) are now showing up in the #100 to #700 range. They had dropped out of the top #1000 during this latest google shift.... of course those rankings are meaningless for generating traffic.

Maybe I did not make myself clear enough. I basicly live off Advertisements and Microsoft Intergration services and I designed a CMS for a company I am partnered with and I thought to myself "Hey I could take this code I built for them and extend it to feature enterprise quality" and not have to live off adsense or stuff like that.

So basicly I am developing my own CMS called WebEditorCMS.

I've taken a bunch of hits on my Yahoo results now!! My Yahoo backlinks are down by about 30%.

On the other hand a number of keywords I never ranked for before have popped into the top200 for Google and some of the keywords that dropped out have returned some of the way back to normal.

Hmmm, not quite sure what that makes me. Like many, I've sites that have tanked for some keywords and not others. Does this mean I get to go to hell or not ?? Don't want to end up where it's cold and raining - I have enough of that in this life :)

Gbot has been hitting some this site (the one that dropped most) way way more frequently than normal. I'm seeing 5000+ visits in the last 2 days - and for pages that rarely if ever change. Odd, normally I find that during an update Gbot is rarely seen on my sites.
I think this has some way to run yet.

Just wondering, with all the crawling, if they are factoring in how often a site updates or how often the home page updates.
