How do you think Google search will adopt .co domain ... will it be considered as a mainstream domain?
The third level domain registrations closely mirror the "traditional†IANA .com / .net / .org / .gov / .edu / .mil hierarchy, with the addition of a national equivalent of .name. Different from registrations directly under .co which are used to signal globally relevant interests, third level domains are used to signal locally relevant business, organizations, academic institutions, and government. Third level domains com.co – commercial org.co – organizations edu.co – educational gov.co – government net.co – network infrastructure mil.co – military nom.co – private person So obviously google will also follow the sale rules, third level domains for local purpose and top level is for global use.
Nothing big isn't established yet, Therefore reaction can't be seen atm but IMO any site that establish up with good content will have same priority as .com or other extensions
I do not think Google would treat them specifically. In my opinion, .co. domain would be treat like a common .com (commercial) and nothing special more than that. I do not think this one could be a good decision compared to a certain country domain (.co.uk) anyway.
Nothing special! It will be treated like all other ccTLDs like .cn, .us, and so on. Of course, .co domain names have special values because many people regard it as .com domains.
I guess the above statement sums it's position really well. Even though it being a country specific tld, it would be looked upon to be serving all commercial interests and so google would be treating it likewise! Regards, RightMan
