I just did a search on a term, and at the top of the search google is showing "Starred Results". This has NEVER shown up before, does anyone know anything about this? I canot find anything on this matter doing a search in the forums. I am including a screenshot.
Ahh, here is a good read on this matter. http://www.pcworld.com/article/190793/googles_starred_search_bookmarks_on_the_web.html
Were you logged in with your Google Account that time you made the search? It's a icon they use for bookmarking.
But I think this is something to consider too. When regular surfer is logged in and doing his search, the scenario of the result would be more like this. Media marketing is really in trend now in Google search..
I think google fetch results from bookmarks which you already bookmarked relevant to your search query.
Yes I was logged in, and logging out does not produce the starred listings. I tried multiple search terms when logged in, and they all showed the starred listings. I agree with WishBone, and maybe it's just a fluke but it seems my traffic has not increased the last 2 days, but the traffic has been more targeted (way higher conversion rates). I wonder if it has to do with this? Any bookmarked sites I have pop up on thi starred list, but that is only 1 of 6 or 7 listed in the starred listings, so i would have to assume this is accurate to what other "logged in" surfers would see. So rhe question is, how many google surfers are logged into their account when searching?
I saw this for the first time yesterday. I was checking to see how a website was ranking under its main keyword. The starred results under the keyword were nothing to do with the search but were some of my articles published on Triond (the site I have many issues with - low payment, pages crammed full of all sort of adverts like a dog's dinner, impossible to delete articles and various other sharp practices).
