I have been waiting patiently for google to index my site, so that i could find it with a search, not just by typing in my url in to the search box. My web site is about making money, and yesturday I was able to find it with the search query of 'Making Money Paul Breckenridge', and it would come up as #1. If is searched for just 'Making Money', and left my name out, I couldn't find it at all, and I checked all 88 pages that google gave me for results. Today, I searched again for 'Making Money Paul Breckenridge', and now it doesn't come up at all in the listings. Does anyone know what could be going on here? I also have a second question. I was reading through the forums here, and people have mentioned Backlinking. I am assuming that this is when another site has a hyperlink to my site. If this is correct, then why in the forums posts I was reading, people were saying that there backlinking went from 19 to 900(i think that was the numbers listed) when google did an update? I am new to this trying to get a website listed on search engine thing. If anyone has any help here, I would appreciate it. Thank you

When you are going for a competitive (commercial) keyphrase, like 'Making Money,' all new sites must go through an aging process. Whether this is an aging process on your domain or on the backlinks pointing to your domain is up in the air. Regardless, you will not be able to rank for that term for at least 6 months up to 18 months under the new site penalties. >>Today, I searched again for 'Making Money Paul Breckenridge', and now it doesn't come up at all in the listings. Does anyone know what could be going on here? Very normal. Google is not consistent and has not been for years. They run multiple centers of hardware and each one can have different results. Which result set you hit at any one time is somewhat random.. or at least out of our control. You can use this tool to check multiple datacentres at one time: http://www.mcdar.net/dance/index.php Also, there is a major infrastructure update going on at Google right now making things even more inconsistent. >>I also have a second question. That is only pointing out what links Google has recognized for you. If you type the URL of your site into Google, it should give you an option "See what sites are linking to xxxxxxx" But you won't see anything there for at least a few months after you start linkbuilding. You can also go to Yahoo and type linkdomain:example.com and it will give a larger set of backlink results.
Hi, if the site you're talking about is http://www.makinglotsofmoney.com/, then as it was only registered on 13th Feb, it's quite likely that it's subject to a google 'probationary period' for new sites - sandbox/ageing delay whatever you want to call it. There is no cache for this site, so it doesn't look like it's in the index at the moment. It's quite common for new sites to appear in the index initially and then disappear for a while. You're going to have to wait a while before google starts ranking you so I would concentrate on improving your site/promotion etc.
