Could you add Google Search option for search box? It's way better than the xenForo search. Sometimes, present search does not give exact results. Thank you, Johnny
I find I get different results on queries like this one: where the spelling can differ but all in all I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. It's not hard to set up a site query for those times when you don't find what you are looking for
The other issue is stuff that Google can't spider (private forums, conversations, etc.) isn't going to be searchable in Google.
Just curious …. does Google index EACH AND EVERY SINGLE page from the sections that are indexable? I mean if a particular section is open for search engine spiders to access and list in their results, do ALL pages that section contains get indexed? If some pages are NOT indexed and get omitted by the spiders, it would NOT be possible to locate those pages from Google's results. This is where I suppose Xenforo search has an edge on Google search. One more point …. when I want to search for a phrase or combination of multiple words EXACTLY, Xenforo search is NOT able to fetch the results ONLY with that exact combination. E.g. if I want to search ONLY the EXACT phrase “put my name on” from the Copywriting forum, Xenforo search shows posts that have all single words from this phrase. The screencap below will explain: As can be seen, ONLY the second result indicated with red annotation is relevant. The other results show posts with all the words 'put', 'my', 'name' and 'on'. So I wanted to suggest to add a functionality to Xenforo search that narrows down the results ONLY to the EXACT phrase that will be searched i.e it should fetch ONLY the second result in this case which is the post with the EXACT phrase “put my name on”. Just like we do by adding a pair of double quotes (“....”) in Google search to get the EXACT combination of words. EDIT: Tried by using a pair of double quotes in Xenforo search (as is done for Google search) , but it DOESN'T work. See below -
