Google Search Box

Just a question or two to those who have the Google search box on their site.

Does it make you much money or do you see it more as a service to your users?

I'm just wondering whether I should put it on my site. Will it make me more money or is it just a traffic leak I don't need?

I make a little off of it! It's hit or miss! I can go 3 days in a row with some search activity, then a couple days of no activity... back and forth.. Also, as with the ad units, the CPC on the searches depend on the keywords they are searching for!

You're going to need a TON of searches if you want to make something decent off it.

I have to pipe in, I created a site where you can have your own home page. Then I put up the search box, and I find if people are really Google Fans, they don't used search boxes, but the tool bar.

So, it's a large chunk of page realestate better used for other forms of revenue generation.

    My 2 cents,

If you could get a lot of searches, it actually looks like it would be quite profitable from the eCPM I've seen. But getting hundreds or thousands of searches a day might be difficult. If you are only going to be getting a dozen or so searches a day, it's not worth it.

Adlinks perform better than search. I just remove it and put internal site search instead for a convenience of my visitors
