I just thought over it..yep, the free advertising concept exists with permitting the use of the googling word..

But probably, Google is now looking at changing its business plans...Adwords is no more the sole bread winner.., they now have maps, videos etc bringing in money as well..

So, probably they felt that the term 'googling' might constrict the search feature of Google in the minds of the customers and hence this move...

    comments anyone?

You really can't fight a thousand years of English language evolution modalities.

    They'll get over it.

I like the example the lawyer provided "I googled the hottie" - that's classic.

This makes me wonder if Google is afraid of losing their search relevancy. If they have the most relevent search results then people will continue to use their engine and know their name. If their search results suck then Google will be another AOL or IE, just keeping up because of their name and recognition. I want good products and services, this branding crap is....well, it's crap.

Man, Google is stingy about everything... You can pretty much get banned for anything on Adsense.... & now they dont want you using certain phrases... I mean com'on... Don't you have enough money to keep your mouth shut.
