They would prefer if we Yahoo things I guess. That or MSN things - although that doesn't seem to work well in a sentence.
They are just afraid to loose their trademark that’s all. Actually using the vers give them more recognition but they have to make some noise about it, to make sure they "protect" their trademark.

Just think of aspirine. It started out as a product by Bayer, but Aspirine has changed from a brand to THE name for a pill that you take when you have a headache.
