So, everyone knows that you aren't supposed to purchase links in order to increase your serps in any way shape or form. You are also not allowed to sell links on your site... Looking at a couple of larger sites indexed back links shown in google, it is CLEAR as day that they purchased the link... So, to me, it seems like it takes a sucker to not purchase links in relevant sites where it makes sense. How do I know that these major sites are purchasing links? Well, I contacted the web site where the link was at and asked, "how much for links" and they said.. $blah ... My example is actually at a couple of .edu college sites where this is happening, but that is neither here or there. My point of this thread is to see how many people do buy relevant links and do sell relevant links because they think this Google crap is bogus? Cheers Alf
A 'lot' of people here buy / sell links but they will not say this on a public forum. People know that they can get penalized if google finds out, but they use multiple anchor texts and keep the backlinks flowing to prevent google from detecting this.
I personally have never bought any links for my sites. I think it is too risky. I just concentrate on natural link building. Google seems to penalize newer sites for buying links much more than older sites. I think this is why many sites that buy links still rank well in Google.
LOL, nobody wants to answer this one! And what would they have to gain by being honest? One of their competitors reporting them? I've never bought links for one of my own sites. I personally don't believe it's worth the risk in my case. I can't blame anyone for trying though especially in niches where you really have no choice. And what's all that evil about paying for a link? Until the Big G proclaimed it immoral, that used to be called "advertising".
directories I guess get away with it because they are using the money to 'review' you link. This is a bunch of BS and lets directories charge 200-500 a link? But anyway that is still paying for a link. But I assure you you can literally see an almost overnight jump in SERPS from all the free links out there and then 'paying' to be review and added to some authority directories out there! I also agree what the difference is to Google about those that pay to have an add to their site and those that buy a link? This is a fault of all of their eggs in 1 basket judging quality sites by backlinks, they don't want he with the most money to win, but that can still be the case anyway.
I have not bought any links before but I have done some work for a company that basically sold links. The companies that used this service did see a huge increase in search engine results at first but have stalled a bit. Not even sure if the company is still running actually... Anyways I would be careful about where you buy your links because they might not get you the results you paid for and can be risky if you get caught.
Just don't get caught or call it sponsorship. What is the difference between buying a link and sponsoring a site to get a link?
Links made by manual efforts are quality links and fetch the most benefits. Of course, it require efforts
It has to be oneway links only. They have to be relevant and compatible with your site contents, and that eliminates all mass purchase offers for links. If you buy links, they old saying, you get what you paid for. Quality, related content sites, and only small numbers per week, not days. Build it slowly and they will come. puravida
I think there are plenty of places to include your links for free. I also think that in some cases buying links from important sites may be a good complementary strategy. Im talking about buying links in sites such as yahoo, that in eyes of google has a considerable importance.
I've never bought links and I'm not so inclined to do so in the near future. Why bother when there are so many other good and decent alternatives?
i think it's nice and hypocritical that google operate Adwords/Adsense which is essentially link buying and selling.
For competitive keywords, it is almost a must to buy one way links on .edu and various authority sites. Do a link: for a site that comes up with a very competitive keyword and you will find .edu's that were bought or their link on sites that are obvious. I just don't understand why Google doesn't penalize them because sometimes it just so obvious. I believe that buying Relevant links slowly is the best thing to do if you are fighting for a competitive keyword. -Alf
