    hi,

It seems of late Google has been withholding high ranking ability of newly launched websites for 2-4 months. The penalty is applicable to new sites only and doesn't affect domains that are 4 or more months old and have good backlinks. The sandbox effect also doesn't affect new pages on long standing websites.

After the newly launched websites prove their worthiness by developing good back links and spend some time on the web they are given a weight and eventually the sandbox effect goes away.

sandbox doesn't effect each and every new site..it effects only sites that tend to build links too fast..and google seems them as potential spams..thus it withholds their ranking for a few months untill it sees that they are not spams

Google Sandbox is much faster than regular Google browsing because it gets more results at a faster phase and at a faster time. Try it. :)

Either you build links very slowly to avoid the sandbox. Or you build them fast, go into the sandbox than come out 3 months later strong.

This thread is hilarious. I've never seen such an imaginative, diverse set of wrong answers before in my life.

The igoogle one almost made me choke on my coke.

I don't know how accurate that is. Since I've recently been dealing with many new sites and have gotten at least half of my clients top page rankings.
Just stick to White Hat techniques and you won't have to think or worry about the so called "Sandbox"

Yes, very true, I haven't seen so many diverse sets of wrong answers.
I also laughed so hard and loud, my co-workers looked at me like I was on something.

A site is sandboxes when it is new and does not rank for keyword phrases that are not incredibly competitive in Google after making the page "search engine friendly" and after being indexed.

if any website was newly launched means it will be in sandbox for some time, in those situation you can expect the site to perform well..

Google tempt to reduces PR of any site which are in Sandbox but these situations are temporary only..!The Google sandbox or "sandbox effect" is a filter that Google applies to new websites that want to rank in the search results for specific phrases. The filter exists to prevent SEOs and spammers from easily manipulating search results by satisfying all of Google's major off site and on site factors. The Google Sandbox Checker Tool helps you to check if your site is in google's sandbox for a given keyword.
Certain factors will determine the length of your stay in the Google sandbox. If the keywords your website is targeting are highly competitive then your website will be quarantined for longer. irrespective of factors such as good on-page optimization, incoming back links and original content, the average duration in the Google sandbox is 3 months. But doing the following has been observed to shorten a site’s duration in the Google sandbox:
    * Register your domain name for more than one year
    * Upload your site for live viewing as soon as possible
    * Maintain excellent-practice seo-linking campaigns .

The google sandbox can also only affect certain countries and keywords.

So you could be on a sandbox in the US, for Green Apples

But you could be ranked no1 in germany, france for green apples.

There are many myths for the google sandbox effect. There is no penalty when it comes to google sandbox it's just that you're given temporary boost.

withholding all new sites from search results makes no sense at all. many if not most of the most informative web pages are new ones. think news articles, etc.
