It is a theory that new sites are flagged or have a filter placed on them so that their rankings in the serps are not as good compared to after the filter or flag is lifted. Some people have said that they were not able to even make it to the serps, which probably means that they were #3000 or not listed.

If you search google for google sandbox I remember coming across a site that had a script to check the probability that your site is sandboxed based on your rankings, age and complexity of the keyword/phrase.

    Good Luck :)

In addition to the fact that it is a theory, some people may not even belive it exists if they do not agressively try to target a site with certain keywords at first. This is one truth to the fact that it is a theory, and that theories are not necessarily true.

so just to clarify the sandbox is if you move too fast up the search list especially with a new site? is this correct, so sometimes is it a little inevitable if you have a new really well optimized site?

you can beat the sandbox, one of the ways is to get a DMOZ listing before any other links coming in

    Hi,
The Google SandBox is a metaphorical term coined by SEOs and Webmasters, not associated with Google, to explain why most new Websites have very poor rankings in Google Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS) i think it takes 3-9 months.

There is no set timeline for it, it can be beaten also. And signatures should be set up in cpanel, not within a post.

Hey i want to help you to know about Google Sandbox,

    Google sandbox:
The Google Sandbox is an alleged filter placed on new websites. The result is that a site does not receive good rankings for its most important keywords and keyword phrases. Even with good content, abundant incoming links and strong Google PageRank, a site is still adversely affected by the Sandbox effect. The Sandbox acts as a de facto probation for sites, possibly to discourage spam sites from rising quickly, getting banned, and repeating the process.

If someone ask me about Google Sandbox in one sentence? Then i say,
The Google Sandbox is very similar to a new website being placed on probation, and kept lower than expected in searches, prior to being given full value for its incoming links and content.

    Google institute a Sandbox? Bcoz
It is thought that the reason Google created the Sandbox new site filter was to stop spam related sites from adding numerous purchased links--and ranking highly for their keywords from the date of launch. Since Google apparently considers a high number of links pointing to a site from the beginning to be rather suspicious, the links are not considered to be natural. Another possibility is spam sites would use various tactics to rise to the top of the search results, and gain heavy sales prior to being banned for being in violation of Google’s Terms of Service; and then repeating the process continually. As a result, new sites are put into a form of probation, usually referred to as the Google Sandbox.

The sandbox is a secondary filter that disallows new sites/domains, etc. to achieve results in competitive keywords despite good onsite and offsite factors.
