Personally, I believe Google's "sandboxing" is probably a bit more complex than many on here realize. Google crawls literally billions of pages... there's not someone sitting at a desk making decisions on what sites to put in this mysterious sandbox. I think their algorithms most likely weigh the keywords more heavily as the site and keywords age (and of course prove relevant).

OK... I'm seriously confused. Does this mean that I should launch my site at full force if I'm targeting competitive KW?? I should first launch it and then gradually add quality content?? :(
    Don't know what to do.

I find this information very useful. Thank you for giving me a clearer picture of what sandbox means. All the while, I thought it happens because the number of backlinks to a site is questionable in terms of improvement. It may be one reason but generally, you have given me a clear picture. Thanks!

The sandbox filter is not a permanent filter and is only intended to reduce search engine spam. It is not intended to hold people back from succeeding. If you continue to build your site as it should be built, you will leave the sandbox and join the other established websites.

If your website has been placed in the sandbox you should use this time to your advantage. It is a great opportunity to build your traffic sources outside of the search engines.

The key is to not throw a site up and plan on making a million over night. REAL web businesses are just that....businesses. And while the internet gives us the opportunity to make money much faster than most B&M startups, you still have to invest your time and efforts to make it happen.

That being said, be sure to optimize for the longtails that include the shorter more competitive keywords, so that when you get out, you are optimized for both.

Also, work on generating traffic from other sources to get a good site rep established. You can build income while in the sandbox, just not necessarily from Google. Utilize YouTube, article marketing, and blogging to build interest in your site.

The sandbox sucks, but it does not mean that your site is dead until it gets out. It just means you have to get creative.

Good work guys, great debate on sandbox but I was wondering that if your ranking going down and down and your website disappears from search engines, is this the only way that you come to know that your website is in sandbox or there is some other way to know.
