Anyone who's website disappeared to depths of page 5+ for their keywords who used to be on page 1 seen an improvement in the last 12 hours? Although some pages on my site still ranked high the home page dropped dramatically over the last 8 weeks or so. It is now back in it's rightful place, top 3 positions for several keywords. I had made some changes, started a blog and changed text on my homepage every 2 days or so. Has this made the difference or is everybody back to their original positions? Hope it's not just a temporary thing.
hmmmm i was working on some sites the whole night watching at some soon to come (my belief) new change but i did not see any rollback. One thing is sure: Google is trying to conterstrike MSN. Means they lost some market share. Plus there should be another backlink update soon, within 10 days so there may be some up and downs again. Same for Yahoo by the way.
what are your thoughts on changing information on your home page all the time? I keep hearing conflicting theories. Some say change it all the time while others say don't change your home page, but keep adding content to your site. What do you guys think?
Well since I've been changing the homepage every so often Google is visiting a lot more. There must be some explanation for my sudden reappearance on the first page.
good answer, that is what I like to hear. How much do you actually change it? Is it completely different or only about 20% different? Are you using the same keywords everytime? Do you have (10) set homepages and rotate throught them every couple of days or do you totally re-write the home page each time? Thanks.
I would love to know too - I do update my site once a week - but just a tiny bit. Should I be changing the "Title" once a month? Thanks Vicky
Thank you so much for that info Craige. How about the content of the web site - should I be making changes? I make very tiny changes on the top of my site (Mortgage News - special-credit.com ) As for what "GoPlanit" said: "I've been changing the homepage every so often Google is visiting a lot more" Is this true for everyone else? Thanks Vicky
I have 6 different homepages, with different text on the page, the metatags etc. are all the same. I rotate every 2 days. I have a list of 20 keywords that I use in the text on every homepage.
What do you mean 6 different homepages? Do you mean you have one "domain" but you have designed 6 different "index.html" pages and this is what you roatate every 2 days? ------------- Bad Credit Mortgages
Submitting multiple pages may cause google to diusqulify your site. One possible reason though why your webpage doesnt show up is cause it isn't very good.
If your ranking well then there's no reason to change - changing content and title tag can affect your rankings, so unless you are fighting for that first page position then I'd advise against it. As many of you will know on 17 Dec thousands of websites disappeared from their original ranking - no changes were made to affect rankings, but it appeared that some sort of filter had been put on - no one knows why this was, but after 3 months of my website been filtered from the search results it's now back to the position it was prior to 17 December. I've not made any changes to my homepage since then, and have basically sat and waited to what happened. I don't know if this is a permanent thing and that Google have unfiltered my domain, we'll just have to sit it out and wait and see.
I don't submit multiple pages. I have top 3 position for 10 keywords/phrases, 1st page for another 5 or so. Why don't you read what has been written in the thread instead of being a fecking jackass?
