I was doing some research on keywords and my ranking in Google and i noticed something very odd.

When i did a search for "footbag shop" my site was in position 7 on page 1. Then I clicked the search button again and suddenly jumped up to position 3!

Any reason for this? What are others seeing? (my listing is the one that says "FootbagShop.com - Premium freestyle footbags (hacky sacks) at the ..."

I would really appreciate anyones input on this.

    thanks!
    John

Might not be a bad idea if they did this consistently so that joint favorites might show up in results on demographic/democratic basis. Eventually, time-share of the top spots might just become a clever search engine tactic.

This won't ever happen with Google unless they drastically change their philosophy. If they were do so, they would cease to become a search engine and become a "placement service". "Time-sharing" top SERPs is non-organic and good organic results are what Google is built its reputation on.

@John: Google is undergoing some significant changes at the moment and results are going to vary for quite a while. That being said, Google has been undergoing significant changes for a while now and there probably isn't any end in site.

My opinion is: "f*** search engine results." They will always vary. Trying to play to them is entirely unethical and wrong. Write good content. Sell worthwhile products. Write good, clean, *semantic* HTML. SEO for the sake of SEO is bullshit. But all of that is getting pretty offtopic. You've already got your answer. Peace.
