Something weird happend this month, I had a niche site ranking in 2nd place for a particular keyword, the site had unique content and good layout, lots of backlinks etc, you know a strong site. Well while doing some link exchanges to take it from #2 to #1 I figured that it would be much better to simply add an automated link exchange script. The link automatically adds the link in a links page and it checks that the other site also reciprocated. Well a week after doing that the site went from #2 to (I actually do not know, I never found the site), well anyway I did not care really because I usually focus more on word of mouth and viral but it was funny that as soon as I removed the script the site went back to #2. Was it just a coincidence or does google ACTUALLY penalises automated link exchanges. What do you think seo experts??
Could be, well I removed the auto link exchange script and it went back up to #2 ... Just like magic.
is that really true? i been experiencing that experience today my site ranks number 1 and all of a sudden all my keyword ranks drop and i dont were it went from number 1 to not listed and i also have a script that automatically add link. if i remove my script will my site be back at number 1 for a certain keyword?
no it's just not true! I own lots of sites and many of them have one of the best automated link exchange scripts out there on it and I've never had any problems with google penalizing my sites.
