"Google says that the process has been simplified so that even someone who is not well versed with technology can make his or her own search engine in 10 minutes. In exchange for a free "tailor-made" search index, Google will exhibit short ads along with the search requests on participating Web sites. The generated ad revenue will be split with Web site owners, a concept that has taken Google to the top of the Internet's advertising ladder, making it one of the most valuable global companies with a market value of $150 billion." Got the url for this? I see their "flavored" search box code, but that doesn't give the option to add specific urls.
It looks very good. I just set one up on a page, and it searches only the domains I specified...but that isn't obvious to the user, who assumes it is searching the entire web. The SERPs have ads, but no information on how much Google will pay for clicks on them. Possible arbitrage opportunity: If you have a page with a lot of traffic, rent to other sites the right to be included in your SERPs.
