Google related sites are not related

Hi;

I have question about G related sites which you can find with related:sitename.com .

I have and turkish article site (this site is in my sig.) . I have checked related sites for this site . I saw that they are not related .

G says

*one myspace site (english)
*one resume site (english)
*free wallpaper download site (english)
*one mp3 download site (turkish)
etc.


I have 2 question about this .

* does related sites effect ranking ?

* how does google select the related sites ? (i think related sites are related with linking structure but i dont link to any of these site )

Yeah, that's not good- ha ha ha ha!

 

To find related sites, search in Google for the keyword that your site is targeting or any other LSI keyword. Then you will see related sites!

 

ouch, Google's linked them to you some way or another, there's a possibility that it could hurt you but not proven yet

 

and one more question , does google update these related (!) link like backlinks or page rank?

 

Yes, i believe so... but how often they update is a big question

 

as often as backlinks I guess, it finds the site, then finds the link, so it finds the site, then deems it relevant?

 

I don't think so...

I think they take it from pages where are your back links.

I know, I find it a bit annoying too... but at least that's nothing special

 

I didn't know that, that they consider related sites from your back links.

 

I have some odd "related" sites. I have alway assumed that the sites that link to me also link to those sites, thus Google assumes the pages are on a related subject.
