Hello, I am new here and look forward to participating on this site. This subject is actually what brought me here. I typically don't use IE or the Google Toolbar but last night I wanted to check backlinks and PR for some of my sites so I decided to use IE. I had to install Google toolbar as it wasn't previously installed. Once it installed I went to my first website and up pops Google Related. I guess I have been living in the dark because I never heard of it before. When it popped up on my screen I immediately noticed advertisements in it with links to competing sites. When I hovered over it a larger popup appeared over the top of my site. I did some searches on the web and found only a couple sites that even discuss the option of disabling it. I tried everything suggested to get it so Google Related wouldn't appear when someone loads my site. I know it can be disabled on my computer but I am absolutely not okay with Google displaying a competitor's ads on top of my site. I can't believe this has not become a hot topic. I mean we all work hard to drive traffic to our sites and for what? To have Google post ads on top of our sites that basically is telling our visitors, hey you came to this site but maybe you should check out these instead. Am I wrong in my thoughts? What are your thoughts on this? Did you know it was happening? I am fond of Google and the tools they provide to us as web developers but as such I think we need to take a stance against Google on this one. I wrote a blog post and posted it on my youneedtolisten.com website. It has a screenshot of exactly what I am talking about. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing your opinions on this one.
