Google Reaches New Records Sorting 1PB Data In 6 Hours Just sorting that amound of data is quite something. As they indicate, when you've sorted it, where do you put that information! Apparently, 48,000 hard drives.
These numbers are just mind boggling. We tend to take Google services for granted, and just expect them to work, when there is a glitch or they close for maintenance, we are like... "WTF??" Sitting back and thinking about all the number crunching and file sorting that goes on in the background, puts it all into perspective. I guess they can be forgiven for not giving us real time Analytics stats.. thanks for pointing this out. Cheers James
