Google rapidly indexing new forum posts?

Discussion in 'Google' started by JochenVandeVelde, Dec 23, 2007.

An hour after I posted an introduction post on the SitePoint Forums, the post was crawled and indexed and was ranking 29th for a search for my name in Google.

Has anyone else experienced this too? How could this possibly happen? Is it because these forums ping Google with new posts or their constantly updating sitemap?

Big forums usually have a lot of spiders online 24x7, their posts usually get listed pretty quickly.

Yes, at many forums, 10% or more of the active users at any given time are only SE spiders. Very cool! :D

Sitepoint has a ton of backlinks - and is loved by the search engines, so of course new threads will be indexed quick. Digitalpoint's forums are indexed fast too.

Who told you that? Links in signature and posts aren't nofollow ones! In fact it is only slightly tweaked from the default vBulletin setup.
