Google rankings and PR observation

One of my websites promote a software product I authored. The product is listed on many file directories (e.g. cnet and download.com), so as a result there are a few hundred (mostly high PR) links to my website whereas I only have half a dozen links out. My site has now been running for about 5 months and have a PR of only 3.

Another thing I've noted is that if I do a google search using a short phrase copied from my website, then my website does not even feature in the first 50 results - all the search results come from the description of my product on file dir websites. From this I can only conclude that PR must be very important when it comes to rankings.

    Any comments?

This might be answered better if it were in the Google forum?

Unless you want to post your site for review (perhaps there's something on it that is causing the problem).
