Google Ranking, Some Luck Involved

I have an automated blog that with absolutely no SEO except the "all in one seo" plugin for wordpress, as well as automated sitemap generation and submissions, has achieved #2 in google on page one for a term with 8500 searches a month.

My website has absolutely zero to no backlinks, and I have done no promotion.

It appears that with a bit of luck, and picking good keywords that I didn't even research, you can rank high on targeted keywords. This search term even yields 115 million results. :p

Those numbers often lie. We have several websites ranked for some keywords that say there are xxx,xxx searches and most of the time #1 gives us x,xxx searches.

Agreed, however my point was that I put no hard work or research into this website or domain/keyword. I simply pulled a name and keyword out of a hat and got lucky.

Congrats on that bit of luck.

Well that happen, some sites are naturally loved (gaining ranks without much effort) by Google.

I got that data from the adwords/webmaster tools of googles. The information is directly from them.

The site was only launched around 10 days ago, however the domain is almost a year old but was sitting without any content for months. The site has been in the top ten for about half of the time since launch, so almost immediately it jumped to the top and has remained there.

    Which translates to luck. ;)
