Hi All, n00b question...I set my new website up with one page, and within two days was on page 2 of Google for my search term. I've been able to get up to the top of page 2 and right now I'm ranking 2nd on page 2. This is pretty good but I'd like to improve. To appease a website where I responded to a post and it needed me to have my page name in a certain format, I tried making a hidden duplicate page to my original content. My site disappeared off the Google search results immediately. So I guess that diluted the result, and I changed it back very quickly. The site returned to page 2 results. Now, I read that having fresh, original content will help with ranking. So my question is: should I be putting up new, related posts to my key words/topic, and should those posts also use that key word phrase, or should they stress something related but different? I have a blog site and can spin my own content to make it relevant and original for this new site. Will it help or hurt? Thanks!
With the Panda update, Google's moving towards liking sites with more value than keyword focus. Still, you should still have that keyword focus in place as a fundamental note. I'd recommend you just focus on your keyword but at the same time, always keep in mind not to box yourself in. You don't have to have EVERY post with your keyword. Diversion to topics that a genuine reader might be interested in will be appreciated by both the SERPs and your eventual visitors. Good luck dude
First off, congrats on making it to page 2 so quickly, page 1 is very doable and seems to be very close. Staying on topic / stress something related but different: You should do both, stay on topic and doing some posts that are different but related are fine. Also make sure that you link within your site back to other pages within your site, this will also help with rankings. Spun / original content: I personally don't believe in using spun content but that's up to you as long as you can make it completely original, it shouldn't hurt your site.
As the other posters have suggested you should continually add content to your site. Think of sub topics related to your keyword and build pages for that. The more content you have the more search engine hits you'll get. Just make sure the content is unique and on topic.
Thanks everybody! What I'm really worried about is adding content, and then having the ranking drop because it's diluted. I don't know if that would happen or not. All content is 100% my own; I just have a couple of other sites and blog there, so I can easily convert something I wrote for one site into a useful article for this one.
If your content is good then it will certainly help you, you should write new post somewhere else and give a backling pointing towards your website Or if you have good content (original) then post it directly to your website. Dont worry about the keyword density and all if your content is good google will give it a value and rank your website well.
Hi, Good content, kink navigation is very advantageous in google ranking. but how to use hyperlink, embed microformats, separate content from other sites is very essential.
i think its better to start with new and fresh contents. it will definitely increase the quality of your site and also the Google Position will also be increased. thanks
