Google Ranking Dropped

Discussion in 'Google' started by creatiph, Sep 16, 2010.

    Hello,

I have a site which have a domain that contain the keywords I ranked first ex. "keyword.com". When I was searching "keyword" on google I was first. But I don't know the reason why after a few months Google dropped my rankings. Now I'm on the 5th page for that "keyword" and I don't know why.

I have the perfect domain name still I can obtain SE traffic. What can I do so Google rank me high again?

    Thanks for your help.

Sometimes results bounce around. You will probably be back there soon. Just keep building quality, relevant back links.

Yes, thats right. Sometimes it occurs with google but it will be back soon so just keep working as you do, one of my keywords is also not appeard in google search results and it was earlier on 4th position and I am sure that it will improve in few days.

Already the time I stayed on the 5th page is 3 or 4 times larger than the time on 1st page.

Get some relevant backlinks and add your site to web 2.0 directories. How old is your domain ?

I have actually noticed this since Mayday. Google hasn't ever really given a boost to partial match domains (no more than you can get by having partial matches in folder and page names)... but they seem to have gotten rid of the huge boost they used to give to exact match domains. I have been noticing this for the last 4-5 months.

    @sarirejo

Did you read this on Google's offical blog? I'd love a link to the article/post if you can track it down.

Did you just depend on the domain name itself ? Or did you actually build a good number of backlinks to deserve to be on the first page ?

I had the sme exact thing happen to me as well. I was ranking number 1 for a particular eyword or many weeks, and then a few days ago my site was pushed down to page 2 and now page 5. The drop in the serps didn't affect all keyword searches, but only the anchor texts that I have been using to build links. I've been building too many links too quickly for these particular keywords. My advice to you is to slow down your link building for those keywords and you should rise back in the serps within a few days or a couple of weeks.

what is PR of your site? with low PR you should expect to be out and back from SERP all the time

NOr mally if you drop to page 5 its a penalty, whats the domain? I will check for you. If so you will need to make changes and submit a reconsideration request to google.

i just had the same thing happen yesterday. i was #3 and dropped to page 7.
I wasnt link building fast, but, i built some low pr's and threw on some high ones.
I think that is what did it, but i also think someone has been after me.
there are 1000 links of spam links that arent mine, so people who dont think you can sandbox someone else, BS.

i also think highly competitive keywords, say acai or mortgage get an immediate sandbox to start out and they slowly release the choke.
    just my opinion with experiences

Search engine optimisation is a constant process and you should be constantly adding fresh content and relevant backlinks. Keep at it and i am sure you will increase your ranking again.

Your ranking dropped because some of your competitors are doing what you are doing.

There are some important facts you should use in order to maintain your rankings.
    1. Never stop building backlinks
    2. Build high quality backlinks only
    3. Don't post your site's links on blogs/sites where too much comments are present.
    4. Use profile links
