I have seen many people angered by the new update saying the went down in PR. Though, some people such as myself have gone up. PR0-3. I asked the people who went down why they were angered. They told me they put a lot of time into getting backlinks ect. for their site and that they didn't understand why the received a lower PR. Something I found interesting is they all mentioned using Social Bookmarking. Social bookmarking was very effective in the previous PR update which happened in the summer. Many site who used that method went up in PR. But, this update it seemed those sites went down. Something weird happened with one of my sites I co-own. I spent lots of time promoting xeenit.com/directory using social bookmarking and directory submission. I spent no time at all getting backlinks and such for xeenit.com/directory/index.php and it got a higher PR than the one I socially bookmarked. has this happened to anyone else?
I think this could be an interesting topic. Everybody ha gone crazy with the amount of social networking and bookmarking they are applying to their sites that it isn't inconceivable that Google would look at this and say, 'ok - time to act, these are not value links'. So I guess web masters need to really consider whether they care about PR at all, especially if social bookmarking has brought them a massive increase in traffic. If you ask me, what's more important to me, higher PR or more targeted traffic, I know which one I would choose
it was about time something like that happened. paid social bookmarking, using all kinds of scripts for auto-diggs or other bookmarks must go down...and when they do all social websites will go down with them...take a look at digg which is the biggest crap i've ever seen...stupid pictures of turtles makes the fron page with over 10k diggs and really interesting news never make it...social bookmarking is a fake process of getting backlinks..it's good only for visitors
Well with social bookmark sites like digg can be manipulated, it is a great concept but unfortunately it is something that people who like to beat the system will win.
It may be worth checking out the forum at automarker.net/forum One of the problems with using these methods are they're usually used like an uzi - a quick spray and then an unfounded assumption that the target has been hit. If the Immediate Edge guys are anything to go by it's more about building links over the long term.
i don't see your relevance other than advertising but anyway...it seems like the term "natural link building" is forgotten...don't think that Google or any other search engine does not see what people are doing over the internet using and manipulating the social websites. i used digg like 5 months ago, submitted some stories, made a few shouts but no more than that..in exchange i've received a PR3 and then a PR0 to the same pages which had like over 300 bookmarks...i felt a warning from google saying...stop it....and i did...and now i have a PR5..well thanks google
Hi, 99% of it is nofollow and if does follow the search engines will put a virtual nofollow if needed. So they don't really count it even if it's real submits or spam.
if im not getting u guys wrong u all mean to say not to get backlinks from social bookmarking sites. yes or no!! and 2nd thing what will u say about posting a comments in blogs and other related sites with signature or refrence to our site. and if both are not allowed how can we promote the site and get the back links
i am against blog comments as well because nowadays 60% of them are spamming...i know that from my own experience and from hiring someone to post comments ...now here it depends on what you advertise...if you have a shop for example..then go for natural link building which assures you that the traffic you get will convert into sales...you can also use other types of advertising like newspapers, flyers...etc...but those will cost you more than this...from my point of view the "internet" is going down because a lot of useful things that are started are ruined by people...look at the newly templates websites for example..if you are big you get on the warez sites....it's a pitty
i myself havn't found any evidence of google punishing sites that used social bookmarking, either on their own or thru a social bookmarking service. i promoted on of my brand new site thru social bookmarking among few other link building methods and the site gained PR 2 on the first update. its moving up in SERP ranking on my targeted keywords as well in regards to most of the SB sites being nofollow, thats not true either. there are ton of SB sites still dofollow. just socialmarker itself has a list of over 20 dofollow SB sites
Social bookmarking is good only till the point that it gives your website some much needed exposure for the first time. Once you have a site indexed, it is of not much use if you are looking for pr as they are mostly no follow. Also its is said that the conversion is very poor as it does not bring targeted customers
i was wonding the same thing i been using bookmarking a lot this last month and didnt get any rank from google
I beg the differ. I have used such sites and have obtained great results. Sites that have been established for less then 3 months have received great results.
Hey ya such a nice topic interesting! I also got my PR up from 0-4 via Social bookmarking and networking. I think it's best way to generate traffic to site.
I'm not sure a lot of people on the web are looking for news. They may be looking more for stupid turtles. Sounds like a lot of teen girls would be into.
