Yeah, I've been watching this unfold and wondered what would happen.

The penalty seems a bit harsh considering it was only one link and was an unintended outcome from a video ad campaign. I guess they felt they needed to be harder on themselves because they set the bar/made the rules etc. (PR-0 and doesn't rank for the terms "browser" )

I wonder if the publicity chrome gets out of this in someway helps to counteract the penalty.

Couldn't that do Chrome some damage by downgrading their page rank?

 

I don't think its necessary, they should be careful before doing it in this way.
