Google publicly shows about 2% of your links

I just finished checking my Google link numbers two ways:

    1) with a link:domain check. That's their publicly reported number of links to the site.
    2) by checking my site at Google Webmaster Tools. That supposedly shows all the actual links that they know about.

    Results:
    • link:domain displays 68 external links to the site and 17 internal links. 85 total.
    • Google Webmaster Tools shows 3,987 external links to the site and 740 internal links.

Conclusion: Google is publicly showing 1.7% of my external links and 2.3% of the internal links.

This is, of course, just one website. But it confirms with actual numbers what many have said — that is, that Google only shows a small fraction of your actual links. Anyone else finding similar percentages?
