I just finished checking my Google link numbers two ways: 1) with a link:domain check. That's their publicly reported number of links to the site. 2) by checking my site at Google Webmaster Tools. That supposedly shows all the actual links that they know about. Results: • link:domain displays 68 external links to the site and 17 internal links. 85 total. • Google Webmaster Tools shows 3,987 external links to the site and 740 internal links. Conclusion: Google is publicly showing 1.7% of my external links and 2.3% of the internal links. This is, of course, just one website. But it confirms with actual numbers what many have said — that is, that Google only shows a small fraction of your actual links. Anyone else finding similar percentages?
Thats about right. Stills shows that wwws.org has 70 backlinks since June, down by 20...Can't rely on Google.
yahoo.com gets updates the quickest however they include internal so it really clogs it up. the one i usually use and find the most helpful is msn.com
