Can anyone post the URL for google public domain search? I haven't used it in a couple of years, and when I searched for it I couldn't find it. I don't mean books.google.com . . . There's something else that searches mainly .gov and maybe .edu sites for public domain content. Thanks
Google doesn't provide such a search at the moment, as far as I can tell. See Appropedia's Public Domain Search (you'll have to look it up - I'm new here and am not allowed to post links). It's a work in progress, and help is appreciated (e.g. tracking down any sites still covered by the search that are not public domain, e.g. state or local govt sites).
I don't really understand what you are looking for, can you explain it more so we can help you finding it.
Well, sorry I can't be more specific. I remember that it was posted on DP at one point, though. The only thing that I remember was that there was a specific google search url for public domain documents/pdf's, etc. At the time I was thinking of using it for researching some ebook material, but forgot all about it over the last year or so. Sorry I can't provide more info, but I know for sure that there was something like this available (and not inurl:.tld keyword, althought that's a good suggestion of course). Thanks anyway
google has a domain register license but they don't register domain name for the pubic or let your search, try www.whois.sc/
That won't work as most .gov sites are not public domain - usually because they're state or local government, rather than Federal. Some Federal sites also contain a lot of copyrighted material, e.g. indexes of centent from elsewhere. That's why "Appropedia's Public Domain Search" has taken such a lot of work.
