Google today said it will sponsor free Wi-Fi on three major U.S. airlines during the last six weeks of the year to promote its Chrome browser.

The move is a twist on a similar promotion Google launched last year, when it offered holiday travelers free wireless access at nearly 50 airports during the holiday season.

Sounds interesting! Seems like the big G is trying to take some of Mozillas and IE's market share :)

It is a nice marketing ideal, Google need to make Chrome most popular by getting more people to use it.

I thought you couldn't use any electronic device with a radio while in the air. Wi-Fi is ok but cellular is not? It doesn't make any sense to me.

Google Chrome is fast and light browser but not secure yet compared to Mozilla Firefox. However, since most of regular users cannot define any different between browsers except the appearance then this is a great way of Google marketing team to make a huge impact toward them (with a huge budget in their hands of course).

I wonder if the day will come that google will get into the ISP business. Use chrome and get free internet. Wouldn't that seal the deal.

Google maybe trying to open some tests and opportunities with this promotion, that actually is a brilliant for Google, not as search engine company but as an advertiser.

well i like this , since having the user to use chrome means , google got the whole dominance in the web market , since it can easily collect data about user web behaviour ...
