    Guys,

our site has registered on the mid of january 2010. According to my knowledge till there is a google PR update the page rank should be zero. Am I wrong? But it shows PR0?? I'm really confused.. Is there a google update happened recently? Please advice.

PS: I'm talking about the site in my signature..

A number of people have reported changes to their PR recently. But, there has been no major update across the board as yet (this quarter).

Your website is PR0 as its a new site - It will stay like that until the next update, just dont worry about pagerank its nothing more than a penis extension for webmasters - It will not give you loads of traffic, it wont make you richer

Nothing is going on at the moment - You might get the odd person where the PR has dropped, one of my sites gave a PR2 to a new page of my website but its nothing more than a tidy up.

While in a panic on the PR run your not working on your site, traffic counts, PR doesnt

    Wannabie,

you are very much Right. But still the doubt is if the page rank is not updated yet after the site's registration the PR should be PR n/a right? Or PR 0?

As for my knowledge it doesn't require PR update to get PR0 to a new site, as far as I know any new site that gets some backlinks gets a PR0 till the next update

    Midnight Focus,

I strongly believe that you are right. This can be right. My confusion was because here I could find some threads stating google has made an update..

    Thanks.

First of all the PR is not at all necessary for a site like yours which is not even a month old. You have to try writing good and attractive content to drive more traffic. And I think you are started doing good by coming here on DP.
Second from n/a to PR0 it does not require the Big G PR update, as you get PR0 when your pages start crawling/indexed in google. Whenever I write a new article on my blog the page gets a PR0 from n/a with a week or two, which is what has happened for your site..

    Poker Princess,

I think PR has updated atleast for a few sites. Today I could see many of my sites changed the PR.. And yeah.. I know that PR is not so important.. Its just for showing some authority to do business.

there seems to be some change in PR in last few days some of my sites have dropped or gain i wouldnt worry about it to much it will settle down in next week or so,concentrate on other things like getting traffic to your site,PR is only Googles guide to the importance in there ranking structure, use it as a guide not a fact as it changes all the time in the back ground, it does not effect your rankings in other search engines like Yahoo and Bing etc etc

Ergh, ive had to explain this so many times around the forums.

Google does NOT do one BIG update. It would be computationally impossible because there is just too much data to all be processed at one time. Instead, google does rolling updates. They have been for the last 2 years, every month there is data collected from different types of spiders - cache, new content spiders, dynamic content logging/caching spiders. Depending on how much traffic, how busy certain keywords are - they are processed in priority.

So basically, PR is being updated every day amongst random sites. Thats all we can assume at this point with the limited facts that google outputs.

Just remember - How would google do a big update all in one go? its not possible, so its a rolling update every day amongst random sites. There is a few billion, trillion pages so grab yourself a coffee :)

your site is new, so your page rank is PR0; when google update PR your site may be got some PR. don't worry. Page Rank is only a indicator that show importance of your website.
