Google PR vs Duplicate content

If i am not wrong pr is all about getting quality one way back links.

Consider I publish a 50 page website with plr articles in it. These are duplicated content. I can manually submit my site to around 50 high pr directory and i also bring high pr related back links.

Now my website will get pr based on the quality of incoming links or duplicated content? which one will be considered?

    Does duplicate content affects pr?

Please help me in this regard.

    Advanced thanks from Rajanmr

The duplicate content will hurt your SERP rankings, and reduce natural traffic from Google.

This is a more important factor to consider then a green bar and number from 1-10. Well unless you game is selling text links and not webmastering, building a popular website, earning Adsense income etc etc.

With duplicate content, G will ban the website. Avoding duplicate content is more important than Page rank.

PR is based on only one thing--quality of inbound links. So if you have high PR quality inbound links--you will get good PR.:)

Nope not at all, i can show you 1,000s of examples where this isn't true. What about Security Advisory sites, News Sites etc where the same content is released and published to hundreds of sites on the web?

As proof of concept, i guarantee i could replicate your original/well indexed/aged site and out rank it. ;)

Original is always best yes, but you won't get "banned" for duplicate content.

For a while I accidentially had two sites pointing to the exact same content before I caught it. No ban from that.

Allthough google recognises duplicate content it cannot tell who the "Original Ownership" belongs to. Therefore sites duplicating content will not be banned but will likely suffer in the SE rankings.
