    When is Google PR Update

How many times have you seen this "When is Google PR Update" due, question asked?

    That's a rhetorical question btw

It's no wonder they say Google is a great place to work, they must be laughing their socks off internally over at Google as to how many times this is asked and on how obsessed people are with this metric and all that surrounds it!

Google PR update LOL - who cares - does it really matter that much to you?

    It matters to me....

For one, when searching blogs to market my site to, the first thing I look at is PR. Why waste my time with PR1 sites when I can market my site to a PR5 site? PR is just one of many tools used when building a site.

    I look at:
    Page Rank
    Out going links
    Relevancy
and many others.... all play a vital role.

Also, I think they Google employees could care less about people asking when the next PR is.

Even I care about it. It helps in selling text links and earn some extra money :)

I don't sell text links personally and rely on page 1 SERPS and pretty much ignore PR. I saw a Microsoft Windows help site crash and burn because of selling text links a while back

Also you may have misunderstood I was referring to how often people advertise Google completely for free by mentioning them and how it must make the Googlers chuckle to themselves knowing they get all this free advertising :)

It's the best marketing ploy is the history of capitalist society, because every 2-3 months people start talking about your product, namely Google! It's possible that they even start the discussions themselves just to keep Google at the forefront of everyone's minds

PR is only one of 200+ factors that Google consider in their ranking algorithm: so I will not mind to see a good PR for my sites. However, do I care when there is a visible PR update? For quite sometime, I have not even checked PR of my pages and I don't know when the last visible PR update was. Worrying about PR is quite a waste of time and energy.

It is quite brilliant isn't it lightlysalted. I wouldn't doubt Googlers start many types of conversations here and there. I have seen how easy they create a buzz around many subjects openly, so wouldn't be surprised if some anonymous stuff went on to.

I have noticed recently on UK TV at least 2 Companis mentioning Google in their TV ads. What's going on there!?!?

Google say they don't, and probably don't need to, advertise on TV. So this must mean other Companies are advertising them freely (or may be some deal behind the scenes perhaps - like you scratch mine I'll scratch yours scenario) which if is a simple case of other Companies advertising Google freely on TV WOW what a coup!!!!

    I don't care about PR.

Maybe Google should a create a whole slew of new useless features and concepts to keep people occupied (Just in case they get out of the PR rut), and posting useless threads and discussions. These could have names like

Pagevalue, Linkstrength, Frontlinks, Linkage, Linkrank, Googlitude, Random number that doesn't serve any useful purpose

PR is a great way to check the strength of the website on the net.

About PR link building and SEO-SERP:
When you place a link in a natural way to your website from an existing website with good PR AND strong backlinks (for example from .edu and .gov sites that have high PR as well) your website will be promoted on SERP for the promoted keyword and its total rank in Google will raise. this is not overnight process but after some period you will see that your site is suddenly getting higher ranks on Google and other Search engines.

PR Updates usually occurs every 2 or 3 months. BUT the actual PR is updated more frequently like SERP...maybe it happens everyday or weekly. We just can't see it.
