Get backlinks from sites with higher PR than yours.

Write a genuine post where you can make a genuine contribution, that way you earn your link and are not spamming.

Inner Pagerank updates seem to be more frequent that Home Page updates.

That's something different. PR for inner pages are updated more frequently than that for home page.

Is this based purely on what the OP says they experienced, or do you have any other evidence for this please?

My home page decreased a PR, and several of the inner pages caught up with the home page. More power for inner pages recently.

Did your inner pages actually increase in PR at the same time that your home page was decreased? Or did the home page just drop down to their existing level?

Is page rank really that matter? I'm just asking how I wish it could affect the earnings of the website directly. :) Anyway, our website has gone up from zero to because of this update though. :)

We know that pagerank is only one of more than 200 factors Google takes into account for SERP. But it could be argued that individually none of those factors is going to make a huge difference, because it is when they are considered collectively that SERP is determined. Some may have more impact than others, but if that is the case we don't know which.
Google still tells browsers (who have its toolbar) than is a measure of the "importance" of a website, so that given the choice of two sites offering similar products or services, the browser could feel that the one with the higher PR would be the best option.
