I was looking at the buy and sell website part of this forum and i came across a dental niche site that was being sold. This site has a pr of 2. The owner said that the site has been up for about 1 and a half weeks. I thought that you got pr for your website by getting a lot of inbound links with high pr, and that it took a while to get any pr. How is it that this website with no inbound links (i checked on http://www.smartpagerank.com/) has pr 2? -im just a little confused about google's whole pr system... , thanks for any help
sounds as though the domain was around already - have you checked search engine caches of this site. www.gigablast.com/ tend to hold a cache forever or when the domain was first registered! .
Either the domain is a dropped domain that already had a PR2 or it is faked. Either way, it may not hold up after the next update. I would ask question from the buyer and check the back links before buying the site. A URL would be helpful for other advice.
It is a dropped domain and it is showing up as having only three backlinks. I would not buy it for the basis of the PR and the articles on the site was a purchased package so I would not buy it for original content. The price is cheap enough so if you decide you could use the site for other reasons, than it may be worth to buy it. http://whois.domaintools.com/dental-1st.com
http://web.archive.org/web/20050202123923/http://dental-1st.com/ it use to be run by a actual dentist. Looks like a drop domain.
Yup I would agree with herbalade. It was probably owned and run by someone else. They forgot the renew it, and it dropped. Then he probably found it in a list and picked it up. You can goto Web.Archive.Org and do a search on how far back your domain goes. You can also view some of the page's from previous people who used to own the domain
It is also not very hard to get a PR2, one or two decent PR3 links should do it, for sure one PR4 link.
