Hey guys... am a newbie and love the board. Last google-dance I was in hogg heaven. I had a PR of 5 for my main page and a PR of 4 on all sub pages (about 7 or 8 in total). After this latest run through, I ended up with a PR 0 on all of my pages!
The only change I made to most of these pages is that I eliminated keyword spamming. I though that would make me improve not go down! I also interlink my pages with links at the bottom... I guess that is bad but I have always done this and had 4's and 5's.

Can someone look at my page http://www.power-battery.com.au and tell me what I could be doing wrong. I cant believe I could have dropped so far! Also, is there a tutorial or site anyone knows that has the basic info for google optimization?

    Thanks from the newbie!!! Bubba

There could be lots of reasons, is your sitemap error free?

We have had a look at your site, we think that you never actually had PR5 it was most likely a mistake, it happens often. We had a new blog with a pr 7 for a little while, then it dropped off.

You have about 18 poor quality inbound links.

There is also no history of you ever having a PR5.

IMO page ranks doesnt matter too much any way.

    My work colleague said this

Some reasons for loss of PR

    1. MAIN REASON - Google error. We lost our PR on Addicts 2 updates ago (approx 5 months). At last update (about 1 month ago) it came back as PR3. Little changed either time this was 99% sure a mistake.

I think in his case the 5 was probably the mistake as he has only 18 inbound links most of which are from crappy sites such as e-zines.

    2. Site de-indexed, in this case doesnt seem to have happened.

    3. Lack of change of content. Static sites get demoted frequently but rarely from 5 down to 0.

I have a feeling that the 5 was a MISTAKE. It is very likely he was getting incorrect data from one of the data hubs.

It is possible to check "history" of PR values
