    They are different, but related.
A high PR page tends to rank high in SERP.

I think they do either a high page rank leads to serps or good serps tend to lead to high page rank. maybe not right away

they are related by means of positioning. The higher the your pr, the better position you will get on certain keywords.

PR is just one of the thousand variables which determine SERP. Anyway can't tell you how much weight it carries which will influence the SERP.

I think the two has no relationship. I found sites in top 10 SERP which their PR is lower than the result in second page :)

There is a relationship between the two, but nobody knows exactly what that is because we cannot isolate it as we don't know all other variables (200+) in the G algorithm. By no means is PR as important as it once was... Google is well aware of everyone's link manipulation.

I know its not inversely proportional. Gotta be positive but only mildly.

There is a relationship between the two factors. Higher PR get higher SERP. I mean if you get more back links, that's mean PR will go up and same time better SERP . But this will not work all the time.

I think the only relationship or connection between them is that PR is one of the major factors that is used to determine SERP of a site.
