I have noticed that if i search for my position in google im 66 and then if i check in the tool its not there at all

is this because of varrying datacentres?

if so which datacentre does the tool check?

    thanks
    Mike

No, it's Digital Point's very own Keyword Tracker. A Google search will bring you there.

About Billybrag's findings, make sure your preferences are set up correctly. If you're at 66 but told the KWT to check only up till 50, it will show n/a. You might be searching limited by countries or languages as well. Double check that please and if it still occurs, post exact URL and KW for us to check it.

The tool uses the google api, if you search google I'm sure you will find plenty of useful info on it.

Is your search originating from a toolbar or the on-site form?

Not sure mate, I've seen SERPs change seemingly randomly. When Shawn's in he might be able to figure it out.

Well if some people see it "normally" and some people do not, my guess is it's just normal data center flux.

When you search for a query you are routed to the nearest datacenter and it depends upon on your locality. There can be as many tools but i generally use and recommend most of them a tool which you can find here http://www.serpanalytics.com/tools/dc..
