    Hi

Iv read a lot on this forum that a lot of good relevent content can do wonders for search engine placement.

Well what are the chances of say a one or two page site getting high rankings.

Would this be un-achievable due to lack of content

    Thanks

    Ben

i would definatly say it will be 10x if not 100x times harder to rank then a hundred page site, due to lack of internal links and stuff

I agree, the more content, the greater potential to be spidered and indexed extensively.

I disagree, here is a SITE that has one page but ranks very well in google for the top keyword phrase for real estate in that city.

This site is using hidden text and cloaks but it is one page.

Well i think that sooner or later, the website will drop from the position and could even not show up in results.
Content is king and this has been said by google itself.

exceptions will always be there, so there will be some websites which will get on top without content and they will use different techniques other than content creation

First of all search engines rank pages not sites. So from that perspective every page is a one page site.

You can get an excellent ranking with a one page if you optimize it properly (Good title tag, headers tags, keyword density). The only disadvantage is the lack of PR you get from other pages (Google only of course) and anchor text from these same links (but that really only affect Google mainly although I suspect it is a factor in other SEs). If this one page site has excellent content other sites will certainly link to it overcoming this small hurdle. Content is king and always wins in the end.
