I know buying links not good. But say I have 10 sites remotely related, and I can link them all, which is helping PR for sure. Is that "link farm", or it is ok? http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=66356 I know this is very subjective, can Google know, these 10 sites are by me, (if I have privacy on domain registration) and use different C class for hosting? If competitors report to Google (how), will I be in trouble? I think Google can really see is my Adsense ID, which is all from me I did find out that if I have these 10 sites PR 2 each without interlinking, and could all be PR 4 with interlinking...
I would warn you that it can fall within the definition of what Google prohibits. You're right, it is subjective, but the way Google subjectively views the situation is all that matters. In reality, Google doesn't have to KNOW anything for sure. They could simply ban your account due to the cross linked material being present on a website you are sponsoring. My recommendation would be to kill the cross links, and follow their suggestion: Couple that with a ad campaign in the form of a signature link, and active participation in great forums, with great traffic (Like DP) and you will be on the road to success.
Thanks, Michamus. Wow, this really put Google in judge's position... As happened to closed Adsense account. Is that subjective? Say I have a site about flowers and another one shoes, they can both gifts? Why I cannot cross link? As sites with computer, camera, etc... It is very legitimate, even in business sense right?
I would agree that they are legitimate enterprises. The way Google views the situation though, is that you are attempting to manipulate their Page Rank algorithm into providing your web sites with an artificially high rank, so as to bring in more customers. Google doesn't like people doing this, as it throws a variable into their equation that disrupts the balance (as they see it). With that, their only recourse would be to reduce your website Page Rank, unless you use Adwords or Adsense of course. Then they have a further recourse in banning your account. Think about it this way. Google is offering to pay you money, if you attract customers to your site that are willing to click on your links. Advertisers are paying Google to put ads on your site so they can have customers come in via links, with the intention of purchasing their product/service. If you paid Google as an advertiser for page views, you would more than likely want those views to be from interested buyers. Since you are using Google's service, you essentially become their employee (this is why they ask if you are legally able to work in the US). As such, Federal At-Will Employment laws allow them to fire you without cause.
I really didn't understand this employment piece... honestly So is that all links between my sites are not allowed, I mean, by on the safe site? If competitors report, I will be in trouble? That is not fair, as I am thinking link my flower and show, computer sites together
I think it traks the ip of the different domain which you are linking to each other, that's y it know the links farming
what are u worried about? "adsens ban" or "pagerank penalty" ? if its not adsens ban then may this thread help u, http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=3630
I guess both If Google connects Adsense ID with PR.. BUT I do see many sites with same Adsesne ID linked together with high PR, seem no problem.. So I dont think Google is using this information. There is one particular site that only got backlinks from its own linked sites (10 sites of PR2-5) and got PR 5 in one update, and ranked high!
I think it would still be a link farm. Google can detect the IP addresses behind each domain, and determine they are all on the same server. Further, Google could establish the linking relationship between the 10 sites, no matter how intricate it may be. To be safe, I would advise not doing this - it is just too risky, and there are other, legitimate ways to SEO your site.
