Just notice that google choose some bussines to show them in the map as Google places labels not only as google places flag. Check this url by google http://www.google.com/support/places/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=174115 Your business is static always on the map not only shown when some searchs for your business. And regarding this google says: The place labels shown on Google Maps are determined algorithmically based on a large number of factors, so there is no way to guarantee placement of your business on the map as a place label. Anybody is aware of techniques on how to manage bring your business in google places labels?
Emphasizing your address or location on your content and in your link building could somehow help on your site local listings.
Lakis, I believe both mandy and wishbone are simply spammers, so I'd suggest you simply mark their comments as spam (the triangular button under their comments). Anyway, the labels actually show up automatically and are algorhithmically determined. What you can do is make sure the business you are working on is as prominent as possible, i.e. if it is a restaurant, try to make sure that it appears in all the restaurant directories in your country. I hope this helps.
Lakis, I have just completed a blog entry that details how to use a combination of Google Places and Map Maker to achieve your desired effect. This stuff actually worked for me and I discovered it through a lengthy process of trial and error. Please check it out, you may find that this technique works for you as well: www.got2web.com/vermont-seo-with-map-maker.html
That seemed to work, previously when I'd tried I was being told that Places was gone and it had to be done via Google+
