    Hi Everyone,

I've been keeping a good eye on my logs this past few weeks, and I see that people are accessing my website from provider "GOOGLE", ipaddress : 72.14.193.162 I see them browsing through my pages.

What are they doing on my website? Are they checking me out to see if I'm doing anything illegal?

Or do they just love my website? :)

They are probably doing a manual review.

These are part of a vast google manual reviewers army. Google doesnt depend on the crawlers and softwares for determining the page ranks. It employs an army of thousands for reviewing websites and reporting the spam sites.

On my site it is people using Google Web Accelerator.
I use i Google Web Accelerator myself, and it shows in my log files on the pages i visit using it.

It used to make me panic at first and i made several changes to my pages before i realised they were not checking on my site every day *sigh*

That's what makes this forum so good, within 15 minutes already 4 replies. Thanks so much!

I also installed Google Web Accelerator and browsed my website, but it doesn't show up as a Google ip-address.
I did see in my logs that they came from a website where I have a paid link.

I found that for me, it depends if my browser already has the pages in cache etc. In my logs it only shows as google for maybe 1 in about 15 to 20 pages of my own site that I visit, but it's definitely because of my visits because when it does show as google as the user agent is exactly the same as my browser user agent, plus also shows up in a sub domain that is not live yet (ie not linked to from any where)

That is not to say that sometimes it is not also their manual army of checkers sometimes, but if it's often then more likely to be one of your sites users with Google Web Accelerator i would have thought.

In any case, as long as you are not doing anything questionable regarding their guidelines it really does not matter

If Google indeed has that army of mass reviewers then the face of SEO shall change.

The manual reviewers is a myth, it defies the logic of what google is heading towards, a smart machine needs less people, not more. ;)

It is but not by THOUSANDS, not by an emphasized thousands, their goal isn't to have an army of reviewers.

no, because they came to my site through craigslist, so i think they are just regular employees and not reviewers...

its not productive manually checking every website. It is impossible. they might check the 1st page of major keywords, but thats it.
