I have built my backlinks too fast. With a site I own I was getting high PR links in the first few days of building my site. I think my homepage has been banned. How long will it be until the penalty is lifted? Cheers edit: it seems to be back now. very wierd indeed.
yep I agree with mabel01, check SERPS or register for a google webmaster account and you'll know for sure
You think, or you know your website has been banned. Have you used "site:" operator in Google? If your site has been deindexed (search with site: operator shows no results) it could be extremely hard to come back to big G's index. One of my friends sites: well established website of legitimate web bussiness company, was deindexed for over half a year after "little" overoptimisation, during this time he sent dosens of mails to Google asking to reinclude website in Google. So, yes it could be hard to become indexed again even when your site was for long in Google SERPs before deindexation.
How you know that your web site is banned? How often google-spider visit your pages? maybe this is a sand box?
well keywords it was ranking high for yesterday were on first page. Now I can't find them on any page. The other pages of the site are still showing up. Is it possible for just one page to get banned? i did the site: mysite.co.uk thing and the homepage is not there but 3 other pages are. in google webmaster it says pages are indexed. ahh what is wronggg?
It is rare bu sometimes it happens, but not too sure if you can call it banned. Sometimes the servers at google act up and your site may not show up, a good indication of being banned is if your site is no show for say 3 days.
Well if site: shows results you haven't been deindexed. Maybe you received a "too much links too fast" penalty. It can occur when "young" sites receive high amounts of links fast. Or maybe you changed something on page, added new outgoing links to "bad neighbourhood"?
First indication is a sudden drop in traffic. If your traffic rate is steady your site has never been banned. Kepp on working on SEO and good luck with your site!
