If you think your site is not doing well in the SERPs then I suggest reading the following help page in Google Webmaster on what to do.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

you are wrong the sandbox effect is not a myth
here i have some sites which are affected
I've started my site and just on the days of results here in pakistan so I have lots of traffic due to some result posts and right after the result announcement google put back my site on search first page to the 12 page.
then i've search about it and found that sandbox effect harm
here you can check my site www student-media com which later came back from sandbox effect by quality back links

Google penalty is the punishment to your site by google while sandbox is purely just checking that your site is not a spam for this sometimes google put site in a sandbox unless it is prove that your site is not a spam.

Correct. Search engines are into quality now. Anyone wanting their sites to rank best go over Google's quality guidelines

No one but Google knows if the "sandbox" is real. Follow their rules and you will rank.

I don't agree as there are sites that have gotten out of the Sandbox while those that were penalized by Google never made it back to their search results pages. Also, when your site is "sandboxed", you do not get any notice. It just suddenly is no longer in the SERPs. Being penalized by Google on the other hand is different, Google sends you an email and lets you know why (This might be on a case to case basis though as sometimes they don't.) This article on SERoundtable defines the Google Sandbox.

You're welcome. Want to share with you all as well that there was another Panda update last week that is getting a lot of talk (i.e. complaints).

    Have a good day!

People stating that sandbox doesn't exist, probably have never been sand boxed...and I hope they never will.

I have suffered both, Sandboxes and penalties, not to mention G-dance. It has lasted anytime from a few days to a few months... It sucks, I know, but there is nothing we can do about it, other than never give up and keep building backlinks for the entire period..

I'm sorry to hear that machito but I'm sure these are experiences that you learned a lot from. There's really a lot to go through during the first few months your sites are up and the only way it keep moving forward. Also note that Google is not the only search engine out there and you can work on getting traffic from other search engines too.
