Hi everyone, i hope this is the section to ask this. one of my sites, is being "punished" by google, here is the data: i used to be,for the last year, at the first page of google at one of my keywords, suddenly it dropped to pages 5-7. when i search my domain name i used to rank #1,now its randomly ranked #1 and sometimes at page 5. my site is still indexed, when i search site:url.com, it appears #1. this question is for people who had real experience with this issues... when i checked my site, the only 2 things i think might caused this are: overuse of a keyword at links and anchors ( i put lots of SEO effort on one keyword). when i checked the site, instead of directing 404 error page they were directed to the same weird page on my site, i fixed that issue and now its ok. so after this long story, do u reckon the penalty can b caused from this 2 things?
I don't think its a penalty or anything...it's happening to my site now too...my site doesnt even appear on the first page for it's keyword..which is not even a very popular keyword. I think they are just tweaking their search engine algorithims a little..
Agree with ddkoh92! i wanna tell you it's not a penalty i am watching many threads on this topic these days and this thing happened with me almost two and half weeks ago. My condition was same because i was not able to find my site anywhere for keywords whom i was ranking earlier. But after 12 days everything was normal and my site getting better day by day. So i just wanna say don't do anything rubbish in Hurry and just do wait. But just continue with off page work it wud help you to get better soon.......................
Hi, thanks for your replies guys, but it looks like a penalty because the name of my site is very distinct and not a common word, and when i write it in google sometimes its number 1 like it always used to be, and sometimes it drops to page number 5. that's why i feel it's a penalty.
No, it's not penalty . It's just a part of normal fluctuation. You wud not believe for one of my site i got sitelinks in Google but now they disappeared and also my site name coming at 6th position earlier it was on Ist. So these days these things are so normal and as i said earlier just do wait, u wud get results soon......................
If your were #1 for a long time, and you dropped to ~30, this is a Penalty 30 with means "getting links to fast". If it's ~ 60, I think this is "Over SEOing". To many changes in the Head section of the site. Both go away. Or, you had someone report you to Google and Google took action. But it would help to know what the url and keyword is.
well i am agree with my friend as he said if you reach directly to 30 it means there is penatly and even 960 penaltly is there so i would like to know what is 960 penalty ? what is the reason of this penalty ?
